From time to time, Oracle will release a new build of Java with security fixes. We recommend to regularly upgrade Java to the latest version. To upgrade Java, perform the following steps:

  1. Download the latest supported version of Java. See Software packages and download locations for the exact version and location.
  2. Unzip the archive to an appropriate folder (e.g., C:\Program Files or D:\)
  3. Update the JRE path in all applications active on the server:
    1. For Tomcat: run the bin\Tomcat8w.exe application and change the path on the 'Java'-tab. The path should point to $jre-directory\lib\server\jvm.dll
    2. For ActiveMQ: edit $activemq-directory\bin\win64\wrapper.conf and update wrapper.java.command. It should point to $jre-directory\bin\java
    3. For MyTimetable EC Consumer: run the bin\MyTimetableEcConsumerw.exe application and change the path on the 'Java'-tab. The path should point to $jre-directory\lib\server\jvm.dll
    4. For MyTimetable EC Producer: run the bin\MyTimetableEcProducerw.exe application and change the path on the 'Java'-tab. The path should point to $jre-directory\lib\server\jvm.dll
  4. Restart any services where the Java path was updated in step 3.
  5. Remove the old JRE directory.
